Finding Modem & Com Port Settings

  1. Open the Control Panel and Select Modems [ Control Panel ]

  2. When you open "Modems" you should see something as below:

  3. Clicking on Properties is the next step and take note of the communciations port the device is attached to. (In this example we see the modem is attached to COM3:) Close this window.

  4. Going back to Control Panel select "System"

  5. From this menu select "Device Manager"

  6. Select "Port"

  7. Clicking on the "+" to the left of the word "Ports" should expand the view.

  8. From this menu select the com port in question. (In our example, COM3)

  9. Clicking on "Properties" should show the following

  10. Selecting "Resources" and we should be able to read the IRQ as being "05"

Incidentally, if you see "conficts" reported,... time to call tech support :(
